Presented below are professional and academic referees.

Prof. Barry McMullin, DCU. (Please request contact details)

Mr. Sameer Kumar is a registered student on the BEng, Digital Media Engineering, programme at DCU. He is currently in his final year, in the academic year 2006-2007.

During this year he completed the module Web Usability Engineering for which I am the academic co-ordinator. This module deals with a variety of topics in usability engineering, as specifically applied to web design. It includes technical material on HTML and CSS, as well as usability evaluation, user testing, and web accessibility for users with disabilities. In the course of the module, all students complete a substantial project, including usability evaluation, testing, accessibility evaluation, and recommendations for remediation, on a target, live, website.

Sameer completed this module to a high standard. I have been impressed with his commitment and engagement with this work, and have no hesitation in recommending him for a place in any related professional position or for further study at a more advanced level.

Dr. Robert Sadleir, DCU. (Please request contact details)

Sameer Kumar is currently completing a final year project that deals with remote access medical imaging education using Macromedia Flash. I am his supervisor for his project.

I have found Sameer to be extremely enthusiastic in relation to this project and in relation to his other studies that deal with multimedia technologies. He has performed consistently for the duration of the project and has realised the majority of the original project objectives.

Sameer would he capable of pursuing a postgraduate qualification and hopefully his performance in the final year of his undergraduate degree will enable him to do this.

Chris Perkins, Network Administration Director, Jervis House, Jervis Street, Dublin 1, Co. Dublin (Please request contact details)

I confirm that Sameer Kumar was employed as an Assistant Network Engineer with Version 1 from 01/04/2006 to 25/08/2006 for his 3rd Year Intra-Work Experience.

During his time with Version 1 his responsibilities included providing desktop support, server build and maintenance of Versions1 servers and assistance with the support of Version 1 clients.

Sameer’s typical tasks included desktop user support for Windows 2000 and XP clients, installation of both new clients and servers as well as application support. He was often required to communicate with customers and internal users alike via telephone and email in order to diagnose network, server, application, printer, scanner and desktop issues.

Sameer was responsible directly for the creation of new user accounts on both our Microsoft 2003 Server Active Directory system and UNIX mail server. He was also responsible for the initial set up of all new phones, pcs, printers and servers.

Sameer also provided holiday cover for one of our full-time support consultants. During this time he supported a Version 1 developed application whose users included financial institutions and government bodies located nationwide. Upon his return, the full-time administrator reported that users found Sameer to be both extremely helpful and personable in their dealings with him.

At all times I have found Sameer to be hard-working, honest and helpful. Sameer is capable of working on his own and also as part of a team. Additionally I found him to be a good communicator and always willing to take on any task assigned him.

I am happy to recommend Sameer as I consider him to have been a valuable member of the Network Administration team, who consistently achieved good results.
I wish him success in all of his future endeavours.

Please feel free to contact me by telephone or email should you require any further information regarding Sameer’s time at Version 1.
